The Shiki Story
The name “Shiki” translates to “seasons” in Japanese, reflecting the restaurant’s commitment to bringing people together through memorable dining experiences year-round.
Just a year and a half after the restaurant first opened, hibachi chef Allen Chen and his brother-in-law Sam Lu purchased the business in 2008. Allen began his culinary career as a hibachi chef in 2000, where he met his wife, Kiti, and today Kiti helps oversee guest relations and marketing while continuing to shape the warm hospitality Shiki is known for.
Allen and Kiti raised their three children in Fairfield County after moving to Stamford when they purchased the restaurant. Sam brought extensive experience in both kitchen operations and front-of-house management, and together the two families built Shiki into more than a restaurant: it became a home for celebrations, family dinners, and community connections throughout the Stamford area.
With children active in local sports, Shiki has proudly hosted countless team dinners and celebrations over the years, strengthening its ties throughout the community. Today, the restaurant features a traditional dining room alongside a dedicated hibachi room with eight hibachi tables, and as it approaches its 20-year milestone, the family is entering a new chapter with refreshed interiors, menu enhancements, and a renewed digital presence.
